My review of Knowing, the movie
OFFLINE

Posted On 03/23/2009 10:30:27 by hotwebideas

I saw Knowing over the weekend with my daughter. I love sci-fi movies, especially about outer space, etc.

I have to say that although the movie was not that scary, the concept is. The idea of the movie states that a solar flare was about to hit the earth and annhiliate it. However, a sheet of paper, written by a very disturbed little girl in 1959 and picked from a time capsule and put in the ground for 50 years predicted that this would happen and Nicolas Cage's son received it in 2009. So, his character analyzes the numbers and finds that a solar flare was about to kill everyone on Earth. For the rest of the details, see the movie.

However, although the special effects were well-done, this movie was by far realistic, even if you believe this can happen in real life. First of all, the Earth's magnetic field at the North and South Poles catches solar flares all the time, hence the Aurora or Northern lights. Also, couldn't this little girl, Lucinda, have predicted our bad economy? Just joking. What is really scary is that this movie took place in 2009!!! I think a meteor is supposed to slam into our Earth in 2029 and again in 2036, but not 2009. It's frightening just thinking that this movie took place in our current year.

If you like special effects and outer space stuff, check out this movie. It was pretty cool, not realistic, but definitely cool. On a scale of 1 to 10 for Nicholas Cage's acting, I give him an 8.
